Map CSV columns and repeated contact fields
Start in: Import → Mapping → Field Mapping / List Fields
- For each contact field, choose the CSV column that should supply its data.
- Map First Name for Person rows or Organisation Name for Organisation rows; these mappings are required.
- For emails, phones, websites, addresses or departments, add the required list items and map their individual values and types.
- For an address, choose an address type and optional template, use Configure fields, then map each address field.
- In mixed rules mode, review both 1. Person Mapping and 2. Organisation Mapping before choosing Analyse Import.
Result: The wizard has a reviewed mapping plan for the selected contact types.
- For new contacts, Not mapped fields are ignored except for the required name mappings. Hard Merge can clear blank or unmapped existing fields, so check the merge preview.
- Check every repeated entry you need, including its value and type.
- Map Notes if the CSV contains note text you want to import. Check merge results carefully: Hard Merge can replace or remove existing notes.
Choose the format for each imported date column
Start in: Mapping → mapped date field → date-format configuration
- Open the date-format chooser for the mapped date column.
- Select the order and separator used by that CSV column, such as dd / mm / yyyy or mm / dd / yyyy.
- Inspect the preview of up to five sampled rows and compare the interpreted dates with what the source means.
- Select Save. Review any invalid-date issues after analysis and resolve each affected row or ignore its date field.
Result: The import interprets that mapped column using the explicitly chosen format.
- This import choice is per mapped date field and is separate from Settings → Preferred date format.
- 03/04/2026 is ambiguous; choose the source's actual order rather than guessing.
- Blank date cells are ignored automatically. Different non-empty formats can still produce Review & Resolve issues.
Unmapped fields and ambiguous dates
Hard Merge can permanently remove notes and other existing values. A CSV export excludes notes and cannot recover them; make a CRM backup before destructive merges.
Fields left Not mapped are ignored for new contacts. First Name is required for Person mappings and Organisation Name for Organisation mappings.
With merges, Soft Merge retains existing values for empty or unmapped fields. Hard Merge replaces importable details and clears empty or unmapped fields, including notes. Inspect the preview before confirming.
03/04/2026 can mean 3 April or 4 March. Choose the source’s actual order and compare sampled dates. The app’s display preference does not determine CSV interpretation.
